MENA Newswire News Desk: The Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open confirmed today that celebrated Tunisian tennis star Ons Jabeur will make her return to competitive play at the 2025 tournament following a prolonged shoulder injury that sidelined her for much of the 2024 Hologic WTA Tour season. Scheduled for February 1-8 at the International Tennis Centre in Zayed Sports City, the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open has quickly emerged as one of the leading events in the WTA 500 series.

Jabeur, known as the “golden girl of Arab tennis,” competed in only one singles match after Wimbledon this past July before withdrawing from the remainder of her 2024 tour commitments to focus on recovery. Her return is highly anticipated by fans and organizers alike, especially given her track record of outstanding performances at major tournaments.

“I’m delighted to be returning to the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, one of my favorite tournaments in my home region where I always receive such fantastic support,” Jabeur shared in a statement. “It’s been a challenging few months with my shoulder injury, but I’m hopeful for a full recovery and excited to compete in Abu Dhabi again in front of such a passionate fanbase.”

Jabeur’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable. As a three-time Grand Slam finalist, she reached the Wimbledon final twice (2022 and 2023) and the US Open final in 2022, solidifying her place as a top contender on the WTA circuit. She has won five singles titles and attained a career-high world ranking of number two.

The Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, now in its third edition, has steadily positioned itself as a premier event on the global tennis calendar. Jabeur’s participation highlights the tournament’s growing reputation, adding to its appeal for both regional and international tennis audiences.

As Jabeur readies for her comeback, the tournament is expected to draw significant interest, further emphasizing Abu Dhabi’s role as a prominent sports destination. Fans eagerly await the world-class talent expected at the event, and Jabeur’s inclusion is set to be one of its main highlights.
